As a public relations event to the public in Japan, Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni opens its doors for all to see. Featuring a vast static display ramp with both Japanese and US aircraft and an all-star military lineup, this one-day event was truly something to behold. Thousands of spectators poured in the gates for the 2019 celebration even without the headliner, the Blue Impulse Aerobatic Team, who cancelled last-minute due to safety issues with their display aircraft. There was still plenty to see and do and the Japanese community truly enjoys and respects this event. It was my pleasure to be there and capture some of the action, especially behind the scenes.
